You Only Live Once
“You Only Live Once,” or, YOLO - we’ve been hearing this phrase since 2012, but what does it really mean?
I clearly remember the days when everybody would say “YOLO” before doing anything even remotely risky, even attempting a U-turn. Not many people use this phrase anymore, but I find it a particularly interesting one — with an extremely positive meaning.
When I think of the saying “You Only Live Once,” this could be taken two ways. It could be taken in the best way possible. Do the things, love the people, be the light, be in the moment entirely and fully because you only live once! This one life is your chance to make a difference in this world, to be the most positive self that you can be for other people. To love others better and help them however you can. Don’t waste it.
Or, it could be taken in a very negative, pessimistic way. “You only live once” so do the stupid thing. “You only live once” so what’s the point? “You don’t really only live once.” Technically, maybe not, but for the sake of explaining this, we literally live one time on this Earth and have this one life to make a difference for others.
Are you going to waste this precious time on your phone?
Or go outside, breathe fresh air, move your body?
Are you going to spend more time worried about money and your career or schoolwork?
Or do your very best so that you will be able to live and be able to help those in need?
Are you going to live your one, precious life to the fullest? As we go into springtime and see the new growth of life, think about how you might grow this season, this year, and for the rest of your life. Use this life - spread light, love, and positivity wherever you go.
Be where your feet are, be in the moment, completely, fully. For yourself, for others, and for your Creator.
